I just love parks, don't you?

Trees, grass, gently flowing waters, walking paths along the grass, under the trees, and over the water, wide open spaces under big expansive sky... there's something magical and romantic about it all.

They rejuvenate the soul, refresh the mind, recharge the body, and reconnect the spirit.

I just love parks. Don't you?

Jerry Goldsmith, composer extraordinaire

Looks like I'm in the mood for movie scores. One of my favorites is by Jerry Goldsmith.

Thank you, Jerry, for your majestic opening theme in Star Trek: First Contact.

May God rest your soul.

Ode to the Magnificent 7 plus One

These two videos are not really about my favorite persons, but about people I respect and admire: the Mercury 7 astronauts, the first astronauts in the American space program. Heroes, all of them.

And not only they but also the many men (and their wives) who sacrificed their lives in pursuing supersonic flight (which led to space flight). And let's not forget the many scientists who worked tirelessly night and day to make this dream of space flight come true.

One man in particular is featured and honored in the first video: Charles "Chuck" Yeager, the first human to go faster than the speed of sound. And he did it in the Bell X-1, "Glamorous Glennis", named after his wife.

Now, don't you love that gloriously soaring and moving music score by Bill Conti? Pity the poorly-done montage does not go well with such a magnificent theme. It might help to not look but only listen!
The next video is straight from the end (and in my opinion, the highlight) of the movie. Pity the soundtrack here is a little thin and weak. I wish I could post only one video with both good visuals and audio. In the theatre and on TV, of course, the music sounds great. And when the end credits rolled, they played the full music score similar to the one in the first video. Nothing beats listening to music like this through a proper sound system. Download it from YouTube and then listen to it through your PC's speakers and it is like eating turkey without gravy. Or like taking a shower without soap. You feel that something is missing. Well, enjoy it all the same.

Kari Byron of MythBusters fame

My third post for the day. Productive, eh? And getting the hang of it too.

This post is dedicated to Kari Byron, that cute and cheery redhead on Discovery Channel's MythBusters. And oh, she's got a real good head on her shoulders too.

If there was only one TV show that I could watch, it would have to be MythBusters. And no, it's not because of Kari, even though she does give the show a certain appeal. No, it's just that the show is put together so very well; the producers are geniuses! The team of Tori, Grant and Kari work so well together. The Jamie and Adam pair is such a good study in contrasts and they provide their unique brand of comic relief. What a wonderful way to learn science. Really. We get so brainwashed by TV and movies that we don't know how things really happen in real life. This show busts the myths and brings us back to reality. "For science," as Adam would say.

Samantha Brown of The Travel Channel

My second post for the day, and it's time for something different. I'm thinking about... travelling. And my favorite travel host, Samantha Brown.

First vid, she's renting an entire villa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

And next, in a much less luxurious setting, she goes hunting for nacatamales in Granada, Nicaragua.

And back into the lap of luxury: The Saint Regis in New York City. A good host such as Sam Brown blends in well in the backwaters as well as in a classy backdrop.

In one episode Sam told a story of a shipwreck. She pointed to the place where it happened, where now stood a lighthouse. I don't remember the details of the story well, but I think a couple died in the wreck and their baby washed ashore in a basket (or bassinet). She went on to say that that baby was found and picked up by a man who raised it up. "And that baby was me," she ended the story. I totally was taken by surprise by that ending, so much so that I still wonder if I really heard what I thought I heard. And imagine, after having gone through such a harrowing experience as a baby, she grew up to be such a well balanced and lovely lady with such a great personality.

In my last video on Samantha Brown, we see her on the Great Wall of China.

I title it, "Sam's Fall at the Great Wall." What a wonderful sense of humor she has.

My First Post, wow!

The first 2 videos are a couple of months old but I just saw them. Between the two of them they have almost 4 million views. Even if you don't love animals you'll at the very least find these couple of videos amazing. I'm sure some of you have seen traditional animal enemies such as dogs and cats being friends. But not like this. The mouse seems to think it's a kitten. And the cat seems to think so too. Enjoy....

Second vid, at first the cat rejects the mouse just as it would sometimes its own kitten(s) because cats have moods too.

OK, y'all know what a cat is. But do you know what a theremin is?

By the way, that was a Scottish Fold. A beauty, eh?

Next vid, you see what you're supposed to do with a theremin.
